In this society we are suppose to be protected by the police and be made to feel safe, however sometimes this just isn’t the case as I’ve come to learn. Continuously I feel let down and perhaps even victimized by them, if I’m treated like a criminal should I start and act like one? This is the question that crosses my mind. Why try and be a good person and help others out when it simply boils down to the fact that we’re little people and to a jobs-worth they are happy to walk all over us.

In 2005 I reported some content I’d come across on the internet, it both disturbed and disgusted me so I reported it to the police. I was later visited by two police officers who confiscated my laptop and took me to the police station to interview me under caution.

Hold on here!!! I’m trying to help them rid this world of smutty illegal and sickening content and I’m being criminalized for it!!! I really just couldn’t believe what was happening, I was trying to do the right thing and as a result I get cautioned and I lose my laptop.

I was told they would check my laptop out and then once cleared I would get it back, well its now 2010, 5 years later and still no laptop. The laptop is currently worth nothing as its so old and as such I’ve lost money as it was worth about £1,500 back then I believe.

I complained in around 2007 or 2008 and was told that someone would get back to me but it might take some time.

In between these times I simply forgot about it and carried on with life whilst my laptop continued to depreciate in value.

so now, 5 years later and still nothing. How is this acceptable by any standard?

Isn’t theft depriving someone of their rightful property?

This is the first of two complaints this week to the IPCC.

Is this a lesson to all, don’t trust the police? They say report things in confidence, I no longer have any confidence in their abilities.

We’d just like to congratulate Doncaster Council and our dear government for their once every two week black bin collection, we now have a fantastic supply of maggots which some fishermen might be interested in.

Our council collect our main waste rubbish bin once every two weeks, however our bin fills up within the first week. They then collect the green bin every 2 weeks and this bin is for hedge trimmings, gardening, etc all the things which don’t fill a bin up often, hardly anyone on our street puts their green bin out all the time.

I complained about this and nothing ever happened, our bin fills up and then we bag rubbish next to it, but the bin men won’t take bagged rubbish and they wont take the bin if the lid is too far up as we’ve learnt form their shitty red stickers which threaten to take us to court for paying council tax and getting an piss poor service.

MAGGOTS IS WHAT OUR LABOUR COUNCIL GIVE US!!!!

So the bin is emptied on a Thursday morning, sometimes late after-afternoon. Food waste is then thrown in the bin either that day (with the piled up bags from previous days that they refuse to take and won’t fit in the bin) or the following day, that food waste is then sat there festering for up to 14 days and in this heat it gets rather smelly.

Get the bins cleaned and stop telling me its my job to go to the local garbage disposal centre for extra rubbish, its not my job to do yours!

Ohh and get this, they moved all our cardboard collection to a little green box (was originally the big green wheelie bins which now hardly gets used) which they collect weekly, well we fill two boxes up a week.

My suggestion is collect the black bin three times a month and the green once.

Here are some images for everyone’s enjoyment, Helen gipped and nearly threw up when she discovered them.

Most of the maggots feel to the bottom of the bin as it was opened but you can see a fair few there, there are probably a couple of hundred scattered across the path as well now.

Are Doncaster council trying to bring the rats back with a side order of black death (plague), I hope the government local and national know that rats won’t pay all those extortionate council taxes if they move in.

This weeks news paper was delivered to my front garden which could be construed as a form of littering, considering the paper could have blown all over my garden and into the streets. I’m sure the snails and other garden habitants would love a read though but I don’t believe this is the target audience of your paper.

I assume that your paper boy/girl is not trained in the art using a letterbox and would therefore suggest an intense training course to help progress their skills, I’m sure they will welcome this in later life when they come to use other equipment in their chosen profession as it may lead onto them developing their own intuition especially when it comes to problem solving such as fitting newspapers through a set size letterbox and not simply slinging it on the floor in someone’s garden.

I jest of course but I would appreciate it if your delivery person posts the actual paper and not just leave it in the garden.

Kindest Regards,

Whilst its come as no surprise, its still another nail in that proverbial coffin for XOOPS, even more sad news which can only be accredited to the “new” management and their dictatorship style. Current XOOPS developers are angry at the current dictator style being used to manage a once great open source project.

After forcing out the previous management, then censoring posts and articles to suit their own agenda whilst damaging others credibility on the internet, they have managed to keep the appearance that XOOPS is thriving and alive with a strong development path.

In recent news you may remember how they targeted a hate campaign against Herko Coomans, a previous project manager who was responsibly for making XOOPS as well known and popular as it is today! In in fact it was him and others who have since left XOOPS which made XOOPS recognised, In all due respect not everything done under Herko’s leadership would be considered a success and mistakes were made, however when Mamba, one of the current project management took over, they inherited a developed community. I severely doubt they could have built this community form scratch and yet they offer no respect or acknowledgement of the the great work done before they came to steal command.

Interesting Reading:

I quote from a recent thread found on XOOPS titled “What a ranker!” which was renamed after the original word sounding much like ranker was seen to cause potential offence.

When somebody contributes to the project, but it doesn’t fit in the admins thoughts, they just get deleted, edited, or wrongfully quoted.

This has got to stop. I don’t think this project is the old xoops anymore. The admin has hyjacked the projectname, kicked out the old members and created a different project. And with the current development of this different project, you can’t win from the other CMS available.

Just for example take the block on the right side: Xoops vs. Herko. The case is lost, only 235 persons signed it. That number of petition signs is absolutely not representive of the xoops community. Just remove it. The admin lost, judge made his verdicht. Please admin, step away from this beautiful project before you destroy it completely. Or do something much more usefull with your time spend on this project.

2. Why do we not have a place of discussion, that users, coders, graphic artists and theme designers can work on the ins and outs of every step of development?
3. Why is there no repository in sourceforge for Xoops v3? Or one that is being used and kept up to date.
4. Why are developers just being handed out willy nilly version of Xoops that they can work on? Again, wouldn’t it be quicker and easier for all of us to work on one version at a time.
5. Why are more than 4 different version of Xoops being worked on without no real direction? If we are going to work on more than one version, then one should only be two, the first for bugs and security issues only and the other is the actual working branch/version.

But, honestly, DJ should have had something workable by now. I did Zarilia in a year on my own. Xoosla refactoring in three months, Eduardo did Exm in a shorter time and the same with Simple Xoops.

Both DJ and Mamba who are project managers have replied to this thread and yet nothing has really been answered, in fact if anything it simply appears that the points raised were ignored.

I’m please to note though that this time around Mamba doesn’t seem to be editing peoples posts to make them appear aggressive and nasty but perhaps this is in his interest this time round.

I really hope that one of two things happen here as a result of the current dictatorship at XOOPS.

1). Mamba & DJ step down from the project and either offer the leadership back to those it was originally intended for, or give it to developers and leaders more capable of running a true open source project.

When I say passed back to the people it was originally intended for, this would mean that ImpressCMS a recent fork of XOOPS could be merged back to form one central project.

ImpressCMS in my eyes is the real XOOPS, it was only because of the current dictatorship at XOOPS that the previous management was forced out, posts edited, hate campaigns started just to make people look bad.

ImpressCMS was announced the most promising CMS in the newcomer awards hosted by Packt Publishing in 2009, ICMS has real goals and real open source development, anyone and everyone is encouraged to contribute, in fact development videos have also been made to encourage the take up of coders.

This could be a real opportunity to set history right again!

2). Failing the first happening, I’d love to welcome all those developers and contributors now leaving XOOPS to join a real open source project, although still in its infancy compared to other Open Source Projects, ImpressCMS has real goals, real aspirations and a real drive to move forwards.

If neither happens and these great contributors go elsewhere then I wish them all luck in their journeys and I’m just pleased they can now see the current leadership for what it really is.

Godspeed to you all!

Well if we’re not screwed by one we are by the other, we have Gordon Brown and you know some times I admire him but the majority of the time I think he’s just lying pratt that should just move on in life, he’s no better than Blair. I had to laugh when suddenly Brown whom was a rather hidden man with his personal life suddenly appears on Piers Morgan and not to much before the general election starts, publicity stunt or what.

You know that what ever Brown says, he really has something to say off camera, a hidden agenda me thinks! Just look at his behaviour when he thought he was away form the cameras and called a woman a bigot, I really wanted him to let rip in that car whilst people were listening. But all that said, it really just shows him as being human albeit a little two faced.

I have to consider what Labour has done to us, Poor NHS funding and inadequate doctors resulted in my fathers death, my uncles death, my aunts death.

Treated my mother like a criminal for their mistake, she’s an OAP for Christ sakes.

Can’t even get their bin men in order but still charge my mother an incredible amount of council tax.

I needed help from their job centre, but instead got sod all but I’m sure if I’d come from another country I could have had help. All those years of them money grabbing

DVLA threatening legal action for a vehicle which I’d had sorn with them and later informed them was written off which my insurance company also notified them of. They harassed me for months despite me telling them the numerous times again.

The list could go on, but for now this will do

We’ve then got the used car salesman, David Cameron. Honestly I think I’d struggle to buy a car from him he just gives off these vibes that he’s after a good commission this month.

BNP, well you know I was considering having a look at what they stand for and today we got a leaflet through the door so I had a quick read. The way I read it is they want to rip our troops out of other countries which could be a devastation not just for use for those countries we’ve gone into but also for ourselves. We need to fix the problems we’ve helped create there and we still need to fight terrorism, if we just pick up and leave places like Afghanistan then we might as well throw them back into chaos and give them some weapons to come get us with afterwards.

The bombings we’ve endured in this country hurt people who didn’t choose to fight in this war, it killed people who were just living their life and if we continued to do nothing they would still continue to come at us. The world is our oyster and we live in it so we have a duty to care for it and not just ourselves because if don’t then when all hell breaks loose we will then be dragged in to it.

BNP also don’t believe in climate change, well regardless of their belief the things we do which scientist claim contribute to climate change are still ruining our world and how we live. Coal, Gas and oil won’t last for ever, landfill sites will still be a mess and will still give of methane. The gases thrown into the Earth’s air will still be poisonous and waste from nuclear power plants still can’t be disposed of easily.

And the other parties……… Well if I’m honest I don’t really understand what they are proposing or what they stand for but I guess I should give them some consideration.

OK after careful consideration I think we should line them all up, blindfold some voters, maybe all of them and give them a paint ball gun who ever gets hit the fewest is in. lol

Maybe not?

Well XOOPS has most certainly had a rough ride over the years but never in its history has its users been lied to so much as it has since the departure of some key players just a few years ago.

They persecuted someone who’s intentions were to raise the profile of XOOPS to give it a better foundation and promote the project which he did successfully.

Then came along new leadership which I sadly had involvement in helping create. James proposed the current leader (at the time of publication) to Skalpa who was then the lead developer, he agreed and so the transition begun, however after a short period of time you could see management changing into a dictatorship from the new project leader, the project had been here before and it didn’t work it suppressed everything XOOPS stood for. We questioned this and were ignored, then treated like crap and lied to, our words to the community were edited and twisted to make us look bad, to make it appear like we were being aggressive and attacking the project and trying to bring it down.

Mamba was the key player in trying to destroy the public profile of once dedicated XOOPS members who gave much time and in some cases money. His attitude was downright wrong, rude and abusive he made it his sole purpose to hide the real truth from the XOOPS community and then he tried to pursue with a legal case against Herko Coomans and now the court has thrown out their case Mamba is considering an appeal claiming the Dutch courts:

“This case will be definitely a warning to other Open Source projects to avoid the Dutch “Stichting” legal form, and about the Dutch court system that obviously doesn’t understand the Open Source project idea.”

That almost seems a jibe at the Dutch legal system.

Mama AKA Michael Beck has shown a clear disrespect to many people and masked this from the XOOPS community, its not their fault they believe his lies, he did after all edit many posts to suit his own agenda.

I hope now that Herko will consider counter suing them for damages, these were all personal agenda’s and as such I think the whole board could be liable for damages and deformation of character.

Imagine all the communities money Mamba has blown on his personal crusade to try and ruin good people, personally I’m surprised he still has a position in XOOPS……..

Here is a few words from a friend of mine, Marcan:

Quote:

In case you have not heard already, Herko won the lawsuit against him (well in fact, they lost, he did not win anything ). This puts an end to years of conflicts, defamation and personal harassment. Herko did not deserved any of this. After years of dedication to the XOOPS project, this is how the project thanked him. Absolutely unbelievable. Open source should be better then this…

Anyway, you can read more about it here:

http://www.xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=5341
http://community.impresscms.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=flat&type=&topic_id=4250&forum=12

Now that the news is out I would like to make a very special request to all of you: show your support! In the last years, Herko did all this by himself. He was alone, fighting 1 or 2 people who managed to turn an entire community against him. The community only knows what it had been told. Nothing else. No one really jumped in the arena to defend Herko, probably fearing the 1 or 2 people at the head of the XOOPS community who were being totally unreasonable. But now, they lost, it’s clearly stated publicly. They say they are thinking of an appeal, but that would be ridiculous.

The lawsuit dilapidated all the money of the XOOPS Foundation in the Netherlands (14 000 euros) + more then 1 500 euros of Herko’s money himself. And it’s not hard to make the connection that it probably cost the same thing for the other part. So in conclusion: the XOOPS project dilapidated more then 28 000 euros (37 000 USD) to sue the man who got XOOPS from a few thousand users to more then 50 000 users, the guy who created a Foundation to help XOOPS, the guy who successfully created more then 40 000 euros of assets for the XOOPS community, the guy who managed to register the XOOPS trademark in dozens of countries. The guy who did it all for the greater good of XOOPS. This guy was sued, dragged in the mud, publicly humiliated, his bank accounts were frozen, he got treated like a criminal. And all this for what ? For nothing. Think about all the shit he had to cope with in the last few years!

I hope this will be the end of Mamba’s persistence to try and ruin good people, and possibly the end of his attitude that if you work and contribute to another project that your not allowed to do the same with XOOPS.

Here is his words to Incama, a man who has dedicated a hell of a lot of time over many years just because he had love for the XOOPS project:

Quote:

You left XOOPS, you contribute to a competing project, so please move on…

He said this in recent comments on the XOOPS news article stated above:

XOOPS Loses Legal Battle

That how he treats good people!

I opened a support ticket on the net providers help desk “The Cloud” (they provide the service to McDonalds) and they replied (Sorry I don’t have my original message):

Good afternoon Mr Bowers

Thank you for your enquiry. We are sorry to hear of your experience when accessing the free Wi-Fi provided by McDonalds but please be assured, we do not discriminate in anyway against any end users.

We provide the wireless internet service for McDonalds but we do not stipulate the parameters for the content filtering. That is set by McDonalds themselves.

Unfortunately we are not able to help you further with this issue but it may be worth you contacting McDonalds directly in order to resolve this issue.

And so, I then contact McDonalds:

During this visit and whilst waiting for some clients I thought I could get some work done whilst having some breakfast and then a few beverages however I’ve come to realise that McDonalds discriminates against people with their internet access and I find this sickening, disappointing and utterly wrong.

I work on various projects over the web one of them is assisting in the development a content management system and others revolve around niche areas of interest. One of the sites within our network is paranormal related and when accessing this site to update some details, moderate the site and to ensure our server was running I was met with an error telling me you wouldn’t allow me access to my own server.

None of our sites incite hate, racism, sexism or anything which could be considered illegal and I find it disgusting that you discriminate against me and thousands of users based upon their belief.

My family and I personally use McDonalds weekly and you never discriminate when taking our money do you? No, you take it everytime.

If you feel you must police the internet then perhaps your in the wrong business of fast food.

I notice from Googling whilst in McDonalds that you don’t discriminate against Christians, Jews and Hindus. I didn’t search for other religions but I suspect your OK with those too. You just don’t like Spiritualism or the paranormal and so you discriminate against us.

The site in question was http://ghosts-uk.net

I trust you will resolve this issue and permit users to visit our site should they choose to.

Not sure what they will say but regardless of anyone’s belief and choices in life providing it’s not hateful, damaging, racist, or otherwise hurtful to others then I don’t see why McDonalds should offer a service and then discriminate against people, It’s just wrong yet they still take money from the very people they discriminate against. I’m just glad they don’t run the country, there is a word for that type of leadership where your dictated to………. I’m sure you know it

Now this is not all together new news and I’m really not sure how the hell I missed it but I sure did. Hasbro (Parker Brothers) the guys beyond this colourful board have been marketing this product since last year (2008).

Now regardless of whether you believe in the power of Ouija or not, I’m sure most would agree that it’s psychological affects can be disastrous especially on those with a fragile, easily led and I suppose gullible mind. So if it can have dangerous affects on adults I wonder how it could affect a child’s mind especially considering that their body and minds are still developing plus until a certain age fiction is still mixed with fact, a child can not always differentiate and belief can be a powerful thing not to mention scary at times.

As a kid most would fear the monster under the bed and the witch in the closet so the moral question I would raise is, is it right to subject kids to this by saying they can speak with the dead?

This board and how it is marketed is clearly aimed at young children, most likely those whom still obsess over Barbie and Ken.

Ahh that will most likely be the next angle their marketing will take “Buy your Barbie the perfect pink Ouija board and let her communicate her long lost Ken”.

Or alternatively for all those kiddies out there that really did chop of Barbies head, you can now be reunited with her once again!

I’ve not yet seen this board sold in the UK, but someone somewhere will no doubt be taking advantage of the apparent gap of pink Ouija boards in the UK market.

Here is how Toys R Us in America are describing it:

Quote:

It has always been mysterious. It has always been mystifying. And now the OUIJA Board is just for you, girl. With 72 fun questions included, you’ll never run out of things to ask. Who will call/text me next? Will I be a famous actor someday? Who wishes they could trade places with me? Gather your friends around, draw a card, place your fingers on the planchette and ask your question. Concentrate very hard and watch as the answer is revealed in the message window. Make up your own questions, and let the OUIJA Board satisfy your curiosity in virtually endless ways. OUIJA Board will answer. It?s just a game – or is it? Includes OUIJA Board, message indicator (planchette), card deck with 72 questions, carrying case with storage pockets and instructions.

Quote:

Pink OUIJA Board predicts the future

Who will call you next? Will you be famous? Who wants to trade places with you? All these questions and more can be answered with the mystifying OUIJA Board.

Quote:

Card deck with 72 questions

Use the card deck to ask 72 thought-provoking questions about your future. When you’ve gone through the deck, make up your own question and watch as the answer appears in the message window.

Quote:

Included pink carrying case with storage pockets

Take the OUIJA Board over to your friend’s house in the included carrying case so you can play anytime.

Quote:

Pink planchette (message indicator)

The included planchette moves across the OUIJA Board, driven by mysterious forces to answer your questions about the future.

Hasbro and Toys R Us both have a recommended age group of 8 – 12 years.

Would you buy your child a Ouija board?

Despite the blatant ploy to entice kids into wanting one of these, I’m sure now all the ladies out there will be looking to accessorise making this the newest addition to their ghost hunting kit.

Will this new board still entice the male ghosts or will it be to girly for them? Is this the new medium for a child to find out who their secret crush is in class and if the love is both ways?

All they have to do is ask the dead!

Stockists include Toys R Us and Amazon, but both only seem to supply from their American websites.

Basically when you add the sweets Mentos to diet coke it causes an subtle explosion from pressure in the bottle. I suppose a video would better explain:

http://eepybird.com/dcm1.html

Now the reason I’m blogging about this now is that just last night I came across a little contraption which was close in design to that which my friends and I discussed about all those many years ago, we even dabbled with the idea of making such a thing but never took it any further. It amused me and reminded me of days gone by, so I thought I’d share.
